Project Security, Communications and Electrical Infrastructure Relocation

Technology Implementation, Technology Planning

Detroit, Michigan, USA

Project Description

As part of a team of consultants working on this phased project, The JW Group (JWG) was asked to research, perform a site survey and document the existing fiber connection(s) on the campus supporting various security system communications nodes at the Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport (DTW).  The JWG produced a Findings Report providing information on the current conditions and recommendations for improvements to pathways and fiber optic cabling infrastructure required to support the interconnections. Additional phases of the project required The JWG to develop a schematic design for new routing of fiber optic cabling required to support various security system communications nodes on the campus. The design included identification of existing fiber optic cabling that could be utilized and new fiber optic cabling required to establish the end-to-end connections.  Site survey and inventory information was used as a baseline for developing the technical specifications and drawings in the construction documentation, which was included in the overall bid package. The JWG also provided bid and award process support as well as construction administration and fiber implementation oversight.
