Project On-Call Consulting Services

Technology Implementation, Technology Planning

Charleston, South Carolina, USA

The JW Group (JWG) was selected to be the on-call IT consultant for the Charleston County Aviation Authority (CCAA). In this role, The JWG was responsible for providing planning, design, implementation support and general consulting on an as-needed basis.

Project Description

Distributed Antenna System

The JWG was responsible for supporting the procurement and implementation of a distributed antenna system (DAS) to provide enhanced cellular coverage throughout the airport facility and to provide additional revenue to the CCAA. The JWG was responsible for performing reviews of proposals provided by third party implementers and operators of the system to provide recommendations for selection of a third party vendor that would provide the best overall value to CCAA. Additionally, The JWG was responsible for providing support during the implementation. This support included responses to technical questions regarding the installation, reviewing design and construction submittals, and support during the project close-out phase.

GIS Requirements Assessment

The JWG personnel were responsible for overall project management and coordination of a Geographical Information System evaluation for the Charleston County Aviation Authority. In this role, The JWG oversaw the development of GIS assessment report to provide a roadmap for the implementation of GIS at the airport. The report identified the needs and priorities for a GIS implementation, reviewed FAA mandates, evaluated peer airports, and developed a recommended approach for a GIS implantation at the airport that meets the business and operational goals of the Airport Authority.

PCI & Communications Infrastructure

The JWG were responsible for a PCI compliance review and analysis in addition to an analysis of the Airport’s communications infrastructures. This work included the development of an information security program including policies and procedures and a conceptual design for a campus-wide communications infrastructure.

DHCP Migration Support

CCAA had a need to migrate from their existing network configuration where static IP addresses were used exclusively, to a dynamically controlled addressing scheme with the use of a Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) controller. The implementation of DHCP was desired to support further expansion of CCAA devices including VoIP and Wireless devices. In coordination with CCAA staff, The JWG was asked to develop a migration plan that identified requirements from existing systems and provided an action plan for installing a new DHCP managed network. The JWG performed a review and analysis of the existing network, documentation and equipment and provided network topology recommendations in preparation for the DHCP implementation.
