Project Terminal Expansion Master Plan

Airport/Facilities Planning & Design

Milan, Italy, Europe

Project Description

Conceptual design services were completed for the implementation of a new midfield passenger terminal, expansion of the existing passenger terminal 1 and a new terminal facility which will cater to low-cost / charter operations located at the north end of the airport property. The proposed terminal facilities were designed to handle a capacity of up to 30 million annual passengers and an estimated development cost of $1.2 billion.

As part of the conceptual design services, The JW Group (JWG) conducted an in depth on-site assessment of all passenger functional areas in order to accumulate data for the preparation of a Terminal Space Program which outlined all equipment and area requirements as well as Level of Service (LOS) data for all existing and proposed passenger processing areas. Upon the completion of the Terminal Space Programs for each proposed terminal development / enhancement, various terminal expansion alternatives were prepared and presented to SEA (airports authority for Linate and Malpensa airport). The JWG prepared all terminal related technical reports, presentations, cost estimates and conceptual design layouts for each floor level for each of the proposed terminal developments.

Conceptual design services were completed for the implementation of:
  • New midfield passenger terminal
  • Expansion of the existing passenger terminal
  • New terminal facility
